Level 1 Whitebox
For our first playable we needed to, of course, have a play space to work in and it only makes sense that it might as well be some prototype of a level for our game. Designing this level i wanted to really set a foundation for the rest of the levels to play on. Thus, in my level design the "difficulty" of this level is pretty low, with each player location only having 3 mushie spawns. I set up the mushies locations in such a way that one would have to look in more than one direction to see where the targets are, as well as multiple heights. In future levels/difficulties I would like to increase the number of mushie spawns as well as getting more creative with where they are.
My initial set up for the white box made the three player location nodes feel rather isolated in their surrounding. Upon feedback from the rest of the dev team, I realized that the location nodes would be on the ground and if they weren't visible, then they wouldn't be teleport-to-able. So I went back and cleared up visual pathways so that the other 2 nodes are visible no matter what. However, in the future it may be interesting to play with node visibility in future levels so that some nodes are only visible from certain nodes but not others.
The aesthetic and theme for this level was originally just "green forest" but I added in a cliff face/big rocks so that the player would have an easily identifiable land mark for direction management.
